The Leftist Unity Project
???Recently, I sent an email on behalf of myself to the webmasters of over 30 different radical and progressive organizations. What I proposed to them was a bold new idea aimed at creating greater solidarity and greater particiption across factional lines.
???The idea I proposed was the creation of a new website and organization, whose sole purpose was to collect information from various progressive and radical groups about current campaigns, history, and upcoming events, and collect it all in one spot.
???The site would essentially be a who's who among radical lefty organizations, progressive non-profits, and unions, along with a universal calendar of events and ongoing actions. ???The object is to create a central location from which anyone wishing to get involved in progressive politics or activism can find something to participate in, regardless of their party or factional affiliation.
???The ulterior motive here is to increase participation in all events through cooperation amongst the various groups involved. Maybe the CPUSA local in your area is hosting an anti-war march next week and you'd like to represent YPSL there, since as a YPSL you are also against war. As it stands now you'd have to be in touch with the CPUSA already or hear about their protest through some other back channels. The site I propose would allow you to search all available actions all over the world and decide which ones you wanted to participate in, and present you with some choices you might not have been aware of otherwise.
???The site will also be designed to people just starting to get interested in radical politics. By presenting a clearing house of information on what organizations are available to join, and what they each stand for and work towards, new radicals can make informed choices about which group to join.
???It's not hard to see that even a modicum of success here can't help but increase cooperation amongst all our various groups, which is key to overcoming the forces of neoliberalism that threaten to fortify the hegemony in the minds of our fellow countrymen and world citizens. We on the left all have our differences of opinion about where we're going and how to get there, but one thing we all agree on is that things cannot stand as they are now. By giving individual radicals the choice to participate in actions and projects they care about, we'll be increasing freedom within the movement and creating a unified front to face the challenges of Capitalism.
???So far I've only received a couple of responses, but they have all been positive so far. If you are interested in helping get this project off the ground, please drop me a note and let me know how you'd like to help. As of right now what we need is some webspace to get an online presence started, and people to research and write emails to various organizations invitiing them to participate. Even if you can't help at all though, your letters of encouragement help as well.

Solidarity, Comrades, in every sense of the word.

It does sound interesting, but I wonder if something like the Radicalendar could serve as a nucleus?

What do you think of Chavez's Fifth International?

It's the best thing since sliced bread!

It has potential, but I'm reserving judgment.

Shouldn't this be, like, the Seventh or Eighth International?

It's doomed. Doomed, I say!

What? Never heard of it.

@SocRed15 Rebuilding offers plenty of room for recorruption. Cleaning out house the house would be plenty easier.
